The Kugler MICROGANTRY® micro3/5X LASER is a high precision, CNC-controlled 3- to 5-axis machining center with precision-mechanical bearings, which is specially designed and optimized for the demands of micromachining and microstructuring with the use of a laser and combines high dynamics with high precision.
According to the machining task it is even possible to integrate several laser sources and thus, in combination with scanners and focusing optics, attain utmost flexibility. The system can be expanded by optical and mechanical workpiece measuring systems.
Depending on the laser type the system can machine materials that yield high heat conductivities and low melting temperatures, and also transparent, semi-conductive, super-conductive or organic materials.
In combination with the optional rotary and swiveling unit (C- and A-axis) , the high-performance continuous-path control (CNC) enables the machining of 2.5D, 3D and freeform surfaces by using up to 5 simultaneous axes of motion.
For the first time the machine implements a program that controls the scanner axis (or axes) fully synchronously with the rotational or respectively, translational axis of the machine.
The base of the unit is made of solid, fine-grained granite, which guarantees highest long-term thermal and mechanical stability and, in combination with passive air damping elements, effectively eliminates vibration. The granite base supports and seats the laser source, the laser beam guidance and the machining axes.
